The Great Highland Bagpipe, the noblest instrument ever created, has been part of my life for the past seven years. Incidentally, this is the only musical instrument to be classified as a weapon of war and has for centuries brought the regal splendor of its music to Royalty, countless weddings, and celebrations. For dancing & parties (ceilidhs) the ‘pipes’ will have you tapping your toes and kickin’ up your heels. It has stirred the spirits and souls of thousands in battles around the globe, and when that day comes when you say farewell to a loved one who has slipped the bonds of this earth and entered into eternal rest with God, no other instrument evokes emotions like the mournful notes of the bagpipes, helping us to find the ability to release our emotions in grief.

As a member of the Sierra Highlanders Pipe Band, (the oldest Pipe Band in Nevada) I have performed in many locations in both Nevada and California. The Sierra Highlanders were the first pipe band ever from Nevada to compete at the “World Pipe Band Championship” in Glasgow, Scotland in 2005. We also competed in Perth, Crief, and Rothesay, Scotland. I’ve had the great honor of playing at Stirling Bridge, the location of Sir William Wallace’s famous victory over the English.

I’m currently serving as a Lieutenant junior grade in the US Navy, and I’ve piped for numerous US Navy & US Marine Corps functions & ceremonies, both ashore and aboard the USS Kilauea and USS Hornet. In addition, I have had the rare privilege and honor of piping my brothers and sisters in the armed forces off to war, and was there to bring some of them home with all solemn honor & dignity when they made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.
